Philosophy

As a movement, the Seventh-day Adventist Church is deeply committed to the wholesome development of it youths for effective leadership and service to humanity as the manner of Jesus Christ – The Path to eternal life.

The entire philosophy of Pathfindering rest on the premise that “children learn best by example, rather than precept.” Hence, Pathfinder Club leaders are called to exhibit the high standards of Christian living as mentors for the pathfinders.

Our Law

The Pathfinder Law is for me to: Keep the morning watch. Do my honest part. Care for my body. Keep a level eye. Be courteous and obedient. Walk softly in the sanctuary. Keep a song in my heart. Go on God’s errands.

Year Experience

Our philosophy rests on Moses’ command to the children in Deuteronomy 6:4-9 saying, “Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength. And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart.

You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.” Raising children in the fear of God is not a part-time business; it is life-long, all-time endeavor, it is lifetime mentoring.

Our Objectives

  • The priority of the salvation of each Pathfinder in the Club.
  • Assisting Pathfinders to appreciate how much God and His church loves them.
  • Help Pathfinders discover their God-given spiritual gifts and talents and creatively use them for them to advance the kingdom of God.
  • Provide a broad range of outreach activities so that Pathfinders have several opportunities of communicating their devotion and love for God
  • Help Pathfinders to appreciate God’s work and enjoy the outdoors via campouts, nature walk, nature honors, hiking etc.
  • Teach Pathfinders skills and hobbies that will not only occupy their time but that can be useful to them and relevant to their context.
  • To encourage physical fitness among Pathfinders.
  • Mentor Pathfinders as leaders by creating opportunities for teamwork and sharing of leadership roles.
  • To create enabling atmosphere for balanced physical, mental, social and spiritual development of the Pathfinders.

Leadership

Leadership is a critical component of the Pathfinder Club since Pathfinders tend to learn more by example than precept. Ellen White comments: “”He who cooperates with the divine purpose in imparting to the youth a knowledge of God, and molding the character into harmony with His, does a high and noble work. He awakens a desire to reach God’s ideal, he presents an education that is as high as heaven and as broad as the universe.” Education, 19. The impact of leadership in Pathfinders is beyond the realm of the temporal to the eternal. Therefore, it is a grave, spiritual responsibility that commands the best and a vast range of variety of spiritual gifts and talents. Hence, no single individual is sufficient to undertake the work of the Pathfinder Club; instead, all hands and talents in the church are needed for optimal result.

Activities

Each child is encouraged to participate in all activities and parents/guardians are given assignments along with their child. There are many age-challenging activities on the Adventurer menu. These range from games and outdoor activities to nature exploration and family camping, field trips and community service projects. A five level age-specific curriculum is used along with approximately 80 specialized award areas of crafts, nature, recreation, spiritual development and home arts.

The Six Levels

The Pathfinder curriculum is divided into six levels/classes.

After completion of the classwork requirements, the Pathfinder gets insignia as an award consisting of a pin, Pathfinder Class pocket stripe and chevron at a special ceremony called Investiture Service.

  • Voyager - 14 years - Burgundy
