Postponement of GYD 2020

As the human race continue to battle the challenges of COVID 19, we cannot as a church be indifferent to the plight and misery of fellow beings (including ourselves). Hence, the General Conference Youth Department is constrained to postpone the GYD 2020. And being an extension of the General Conference, West-Central Africa Division along other sister world Divisions will not celebrate the GYD 2020 as usual.

Nevertheless, as touching the Youth Week of Prayer, since West-Central Africa Division has not by any official statement advised against regular church worship, we may (based on local situations) celebrate the Youth Week of Prayer. After all, what time could be more appropriate to pray than such a time when the human race is enveloped in fear and danger. Let us use the opportunity to gather and pray for divine intervention in behalf of humanity. Likewise, we shall celebrate our Homecoming Sabbath on March 28, 2020

Perhaps, COVID 19 is a wakeup call for us in this turbulent and final moments of earth’s history, leading to the parousia.

At such a time as this, our Savior’s words of encouragement comes handy: “These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” John 16:33.
